One of the biggest problems that people have with Microsoft’s Windows 8 is that they completely replaced the traditional Start button with a UI designed with tablet and touch-screen computers in mind. Getting to the desktop requires an additional step.
The good news is that according to a recent rumor, Microsoft is considering cutting that extra step. According to WinBeta, who cites a Russian-langauge website as its source, there is some code in Windows 8.1 that disables its Metro Start Screen and sends the user to the desktop automatically.
So many users would love this since they are used to jumping right into Windows 8′s desktop mode when they first turn on their computers. It’s what people are comfortable with.
