We have been hearing rumors over the last few months that Apple wouldn’t release a new iPhone at this years WWDC 2011, this was confirmed yesterday when the focus of WWDC was software and no new hardware was released.
Apple showed us iOS 5 with a wide range of new features, and over 1500 new API’s for developers, but where does that leave the iPhone 5, will Apple release it in the fall at the same time as iOS 5.
There could be a number of reasons that Apple decided to delay the release of the iPhone 5 until later in the year, the main one would be to release it at the same time as iOS 5.
Also Verizon only got the iPhone 4 earlier in the year, and for Apple to release a new model so soon after Verizon customers got the iPhone 4 could leave a lot of customers unhappy, we have heard that the IPhone 5 will be compatible with both GSM and CDMA networks, so this could be another reason why its release has been delayed.
What will be interesting to see is whether the iPhone 5 will be a major upgrade over the iPhone 4, when Apple have released a major upgrade to iOS in the past they have also released a major upgrade to the iPhone, so hopefully we wont see an iPhone 4S with minor upgrades in the fall.
As soon as we get some more information on when the iPhone 5 will finally be available we will let you guys know.
