Blizzard has taken a lot of heat for Diablo Immortal but that’s not going to force it to cancel other mobile projects that are on the back burner. A new report suggests that Blizzard is already working on a Warcraft mobile game. The title will apparently take inspiration from Niantic’s augmented reality hit Pokemon Go.
Blizzard’s incubation team is said to be developing this Warcraft mobile game. The department was formed when its co-founder Allen Adham returned a few years back. It’s the same department that worked on Diablo Immortal.
The idea to take inspiration from Pokemon Go apparently came from lead designer Cory Stockton who is a big fan. Blizzard is obviously hoping that this will result in huge revenues for the company.
Even though a team at Blizzard will be focused on this mobile game, that’s not going to get in the way of the development of Diablo’s next title. It will apparently be darker than Diablo III and has a part of the main team working on it. The next major installment in the Diablo franchise isn’t expected to arrive until 2020 or even later so there is plenty of time until that one arrives for us to play.
