If a Verizon worker ticks you off, it’s probably not a good idea to lock him up in an underground vault. The owner of a storage facility in Westborough, Massachusetts is facing some charges for doing just that.
Charges like kidnapping. He trapped the Verizon technician while he was working in a ground vault. Howard Cook is the owner of Westboro Self Storage and he was angry that Mike Hathaway, the Verizon technician, parked his Verizon van on the grass next to the vault. So, Cook removed the ladder from the access door, closed the hatch and then placed heavy rocks on the hatch door. Sounds insane, I know.
Hathaway was trapped and the air wasn’t going to last forever in there. He was able to get a signal on his mobile phone and call 911. Police arrived and rescued the Verizon tech, arresting Cook. Crazy.
