If you’re looking for a basic phone, and we are talking really basic, then check out the Samsung Gusto 2. It was announced last month for $79.99, after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a 2-year contract. It is available today.
This moderately priced flip-phone has a 1.3MP camera, shortcut key, 2″ 128×160 pixel internal display, 1″ 96×96 pixel external display, Bluetooth 2.1, the usual Verizon apps and it comes with a 1000 mAh battery good for 7 hours of talk time, or 14 days of standby time.
There is also a featured called Fake Call, which allows users to set up a pseudo-call to help them escape unwanted social situations. (Like people asking why they have such a basic phone perhaps) There’s not even a microSD memory card slot. For $79 it’s a good basic phone if that’s all you want.
