As you may or may not know, Nintendo announced last year that it was giving Universal Studios the rights to some of its properties to be featured in theme park rides. At that time it wasn’t clear where we’d be seeing those rides, but now we know.
Those theme park rides will debut in Japan. Universal Japan Park is going to get a $350 million Nintendo land which will feature iconic characters from the company. Obviously the focus will be Mario-centric, but I am sure we will see all of our favorite Nintendo characters represented.
Nintendo attractions at the Universal Japan Park will be housed on the left side of the park’s main gate. Universal will pay $350 million for this project which is apparently going to be on the same scale as the Harry Potter-theme area which was opened back in 2014. These are big plans indeed and the Japanese should flock to a Nintendo themed area.
They are pushing to open this new attraction before the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. They have just under four years to make that happen. More information about the attractions will be available once they have been created. Hopefully we learn more very soon, rather than a few years from now.
