The Uncharted film is getting closer to reality. Fans have wanted it for ages, but nothing ever happened wit it. However, now things are moving forward.
The movie will be a prequel to the popular PlayStation games, not a sequel. And interestingly enough, Sony is bringing on Tom Holland, its new Spider-Man lead, to play a young Nathan Drake. It will still be a wait though. The studio will have to bring in a new writer to pen an entirely new script. I guess it’s better to wait than to not have an Uncharted movie at all.
The film is partially inspired by a flashback sequence in Uncharted 3, where young Nathan Drake first meets his future thieving friend Sullivan. This is not the Uncharted movie most of us were wanting, but it puts Sony if they can pull this off, Sony can create a multi-film franchise as we watch Drake mature through the years. At least we won’t be completely retreading everything we’ve already seen in the Uncharted games already, so that is a good thing. It will be interesting to see where this goes from here. Hopefully it is a hit and not a miss with fans of the game.
