The title of Naughty Dog’s upcoming game does imply that the end is nigh for our hero. It’s called Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End after all. And now the Naughty Dog has started dropping more hints that the upcoming title might be the last for Nathan Drake. In fact they are implying it strongly.
That doesn’t mean Drake will be killed off, but he may not return in another Uncharted title. It’s been a good run, but if he has to go we will all miss him.
Speaking to The Sun creative director Neil Druckmann talked about the difficulty of creating more adventures for Nathan Drake after the events of Uncharted 4. “I feel like the best way to honour him is to go out on top, to finish his story,” he said.
If that isn’t enough to convince you, Druckmann also dropped another hint that we may not see Nathan Drake in another Uncharted title. He said that “It will be really hard to do a sequel with Nathan Drake.” Hmmm. Maybe he does die. There’s always the possibility that another studio might decide to create a new game in collaboration with Sony in the Uncharted world. I guess we will have to wait and see. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be released for PlayStation 4 on April 26th, 2016. The fate of Nathan Drake, for now, is a mystery.
