According to one market research firm, the number of Ultrabooks shipping in 2012 has been slashed in half. Maybe this is because of pricing. Digitimes thinks that come 2013, we can look forward to Ultrabooks that will cost just $699.
Not counting the higher-end Ultrabooks made with aluminum, with SSDs and the like of course, but for entry-level Ultrabooks. These cheaper Ultrabooks will still have the slim form factor with cheaper materials and HDD/SSD hybrid drives.
The $699 price tag might be an attractive purchase to those looking for a slim laptop under $1,000. They may not be as sturdy, but they should be popular since they are so affordable.
