A few years back, Ultimate Ears launched the UE Boom speakers. They were a set of Bluetooth speakers shaped like a cylinder that promised 15 hours of battery life. Well, if you are looking for an upgrade, Ultimate Ears has officially announced the successor in the form of the UE Boom 2.
Visually the UE Boom 2 looks pretty much the same as the original, but there are some changes that will make it more appealing, like the fact that they offer a louder sound.
The company claims that the UE Boom 2 is 25% louder than the original, going up to 90db. There are also new touch gestures introduced this time around. If you tap the speaker it will start/stop the music, double-tapping will allow you to skip to the next track. The speakers are also available in new and bright colors, along with an IPX7 water-resistant rating. They sound like they got all of the right upgrades. They might be worth checking out if you need some speakers.
The internals have also been reworked to improve the Bluetooth range up to 100 feet. The battery life is still the same at 25% louder, but maybe keep it down a bit to get the 15 hours that the original offers.
