Well Ubisoft has made its financial report for the first half of 2015 and the news is good. During this period Ubisoft had a 65 percent increase in sales compared to the same time last year. Of course Watch Dogs was a major factor with more than nine million copies of the game shipped during this period alone.
Shipped means the actual retail units of the game that were sent to retailers. This nine million figure does not accurately tell us the number of copies that have actually been sold to customers, but you can bet that number is impressive as well.
Also this number doesn’t include online sales. Ubisoft can also thank the solid performance of its back catalog with titles like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Far Cry 3 and more contributing to the increase in sales. We can safely say that we will be seeing more in the Watch Dogs franchise. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot says that they expect this title to cross the 10 million units milestone by the end of the year, and that “great things” have been planned for this franchise. Bottom line, they are making games that gamers want to play. Awesome. We look forward to more.
