Video game publisher Ubisoft’s servers have been compromised in a recent attack. Hackers are said to have gained access to sensitive data, including usernames, e-mails, and encrypted passwords. The company has started to e-mail Uplay account holders to warn about the intrusion and the data loss.
The e-mail states that the company found one website had been exploited, in order to access some online systems. When this was discovered, Ubisoft “instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.”
Even though some personal information was taken, Ubisoft says “that no personal information is stored with Ubisoft, so your debit/credit card information was safe. They advise Uplay account holders to reset their password on the service and changing it on other websites where the same credentials are used.
