Ubisoft has made an announcement that came as a big surprise. It has announced a sequel to 2016’s The Division. The Divison 2 is going to be developed by Massive Entertainment, the Swedish studio that was the main developer behind the original online shooter.
Ubisoft says that The Division team has evolved quite a bit since the first title was launched in 2016. The team is now better prepared to take action based on feedback, for one thing. “And now, more than ever before, we have a clear vision of what’s important and what continues to make The Division a special experience for so many people,” Ubisoft adds.
Fans of the original will love this news. The first game was always meant to be the beginning chapter in a larger saga, so it’s not going to end there. And so they have announced Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 with Massive Entertainment leading the development in collaboration with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Shanghai, and Bucharest. The Division 2 will use an updated version of Ubisoft’s Snowdrop engine.
That all sounds great, but we don’t have any other information about the title yet, like when it’s going to be released. Ubisoft will give us more details about The Division 2 at E3 2018 in June. We will let you know then.
