TweetDeck is a popular Twitter client that Twitter officially acquired last year. The service was temporarily taken offline yesterday due to a bug. A user came across a bug which granted TweetDeck access to the accounts of other Twitter and Facebook users.
When he logged on to TweetDeck, he noticed that his account was slower than usual and he had access to hundreds of accounts. He didn’t do anything special. All he did was log in and it was all there. Twitter quickly shut off access to Tweetdeck entirely to try and fix the problem and it is now back online.
It’s always concerning when something like this happens, but at least twitter fixed it fairly quickly. There’s no word on exactly how this was able to happen and I imagine they will stay quiet on the issue. You never know when someone else might have access to your account.
