It seems like hackers never rest. On Friday, Twitter announced on its blog that it detected unusual access patterns which led to identifying unauthorized access to user data. Twitter managed to stop one attack, but after deeper investigation they found that attackers might have gained access to the usernames, passwords and email addresses along with session data, for as many as 250,000 users.

These affected users will receive or have already received an email from Twitter explaining that passwords and session tokens have been revoked and will have to reset with a new password. Twitter also wants to remind you to keep your password strong.

Twitter says that “the attack was not the work of amateurs” and was “extremely sophisticated.”
