At TwitchCon in October, Twitch announced a karaoke game called Twitch Sings. It’s like SingStar or Rock Band, except you’re performing to an actual audience of real people. It’s still in beta, but it will have a proper release soon. And now Twitch is running a contest with a $20,000 prize.
You just need to register for the beta and the Stream Star contest by 11:59 pm PT on March 5th. There are over a thousand tunes to choose from in Twitch Sings, so there’s something for everyone. After you’ve recorded your masterpiece, you can submit it.
The top eight competitors will go head-to-head in the contest and viewers can vote for their favorites. Four finalists will win a trip to TwitchCon Europe in Berlin in April, where they’ll have the chance to win the cash prize as well as their own in-game avatar in a live, on-stage contest. You could be a star.
This is clearly aimed at finding talented music-focused creators, but Twitch is also looking to promote its interactive karaoke game here. Viewers request songs and suggest challenges, prompting streamers to sing like an excited kid or a lounge singer, or as if they’re underwater. Sounds like some fun.
