Just in time for the holiday season, the Toys R Us website is back. There is a big difference this time though: Target is powering the revived ToysRUs.com. When you go to complete a purchase, it redirects you to Target’s website to check out. Target R Us?
Richard Barry, CEO of Toys R Us parent Tru Kids, told CNBC that his company teamed up with Target because of its robust supply chain. It does offer same-day delivery across the US. We don’t know how revenue will be divided between the two parties.
The new website is about more than just shopping. It has toy reviews and guides, like suggestions of gifts to get Fortnite fans for instance, along with videos and printable activities.
Toys R Us now has a partner that should be capable of handling the logistics of online orders while it tries to rebuild its retail business. The brand rose from bankruptcy in January and started to open stores in the US again this summer. It closed all of its US and UK locations last year. This is part of a larger comeback. It will be interesting to see how this works out for both retailers. Very interesting.
