Last month, Toshiba’s Tecra line got the Ivy Bridge treatment, with the announcement of the enterprise-focused R940 and R950 with fingerprint readers and the Smart Client Manager. Oddly enough it gave the same names to its more budget-priced Tecra machines, the Tecra R940 and R950.
These two models are available only through ToshibaDirect right now, and don’t have some of the higher-end business security features like the fingerprint reader. The 14-inch Tecra R940 starts at $600 and can be configured with a third-generation Intel CPU, optional AMD dedicated graphics and up to 16GB of RAM.
The 15.6-inch Tecra R950 also starts at $600 and both can be configured with 320GB hard drives, and up to 512GB SSDs.
