As most fans already know, the most watched car show in the world went through some drastic changes last year after one of the three hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, did not have his contract renewed by the BBC. Then the BBC rebooted Top Gear with a new concept, but most of the buzz seems to be about how the new show is not as good as the old one.
At any rate, Top Gear USA has stalled. The show has been cancelled.
Host Rutledge Wood confirmed it through his Facebook page. The show is over. Sorry fans. Top Gear USA’s cancellation is all about network priorities apparently. Rutledge says that this marks the end of Top Gear USA on History, a part of the A&E Networks, so fans of the show can keep their fingers crossed in hopes of some other network might pick up the show. Who knows if that will happen or not.
As I said, Fans of the original Top Gear don’t seem to like the rebooted BBC version. They are basically waiting for Clarkson and Hammond and May to return with their new car show on Amazon which is due this fall. That show should be just fine, judging by fan reaction.
