If you haven’t had any luck scoring the Amiibo you need to unlock certain goodies in a Wii U or 3DS game, it can be frustrating. Well this unofficial accessory might help. Axiogame’s Amiiqo device uses an Android app to load the data from any Amiibo, including those that already have some gameplay. It can store up to 200. Why even buy amiibos anymore?
This $89 gadget can be used for a “personal backup”, but really it’s all about helping you cheat. It even comes with info for 10 characters out of the box. This is not surprising given how hard some amiibos are to get and how expensive collecting them can be.
This is a legal nightmare waiting to happen. Nintendo is not going to put up with this for very long, I’m sure. While you’re not stealing the figurines themselves, you are using code that you aren’t supposed to have unless you buy one. Nintendo is barely profitable right now, so there’s no way they are gonna be nice about this. In fact Engadget reached out to the big N and this is their statement:
“Nintendo actively monitors threats to its product security and the unauthorized use of its intellectual property. Nintendo will vigorously enforce its intellectual property rights and will work to protect its greatest assets, its beloved characters and products.”
Yeah. Not happy.
