As you probably know by now, wireless gamepads for the NES are nothing new, but what if you could pick your controllers and use what you want? That would be pretty cool. It might make playing old games easier for some people too.
It is a great idea. Analogue and 8Bitdo want to make that happen.
Their new Retro Receiver is what makes it happen. It lets you use a bunch of wire-free gamepads with Nintendo’s classic console. However for a truly authentic-feeling experience you’ll want to use one of 8Bitdo’s peripherals. But if you would rather have your own choice, you can use all kinds of modern controllers. Like a Wii remote, a Wii U Pro Controller or even Sony’s DualShock 3 or 4. With a NES. I bet you never thought you would see the day.
The Retro Receiver sells for $20, so it might be worth a try if you want to play some old-school games with more modern controllers. Now you’re playing with power! I’m guessing they will be working with the old SNES console before long as well. $20 is a great price to be able toplay those old games in a whole new way. I would try it.
