While there have been rumors recently that Rocksteady Games, the developer of the popular Batman Arkham series, is working on a new Superman game, we have had no concrete evidence. Many thought we would get an announcement next week at The Game Awards. Well, now the studio has broken its silence to confirm that it does not have a Superman game in development. Sad new I know.
There was speculation recently that a new Superman game might be announced during The Game Awards next week, but we don’t have to wait. The studio has confirmed that the title won’t be announced next week at the awards because one isn’t being produced.
Sefton Hill, game director at Rocksteady, took to Twitter. “Looking forward to #TheGameAwards this year! We’re still hard at work in our development bunker so don’t expect an announcement from @Rocksteadygames. When it’s ready to show, you’ll be the first to know. Spoiler: it’s not Superman,” he wrote. Job listings at Rocksteady spotted earlier this year revealed that the studio is working on a new Triple-A game.
Technically, this doesn’t mean that Superman can’t be in the new game. But it does confirm that the game itself won’t be a dedicated Superman title. Oh well. We can’t win them all.
