You might have noticed that the YouTube video player looks larger than it did before. Many users have noticed this change and some are not happy about it. Some users have taken to places like Twitter and Facebook to complain about it. This change comes ahead of the launch of YouTube’s new music streaming service and many believe that this has something to do with that service.
This slightly bigger YouTube video player now has the content right up front and center. One downside to this is that the community section requires you to scroll down aways to access it. The community section is what used to be the comments section, which was ditched in favor of Google+ awhile back. That was another change that users absolutely hated and complained about.
Reportedly, this change was made to support the coming music streaming service that we have been hearing about lately. Google has confirmed that this service exists and plans to launch it later this summer. Apparently, content from indie labels who don’t accept the terms being offered for the new service will be removed from YouTube soon. That’s the word on the street anyway. It will be interesting to see what happens here.
