The rumors are true. Nintendo is ready to launch the SNES Classic, a miniaturized version of the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Fans have been waiting for this and it is coming. The system will be available on September 29th with 21 games built-in, including the never-released Star Fox 2 game.
The $80 system comes with two controllers this time, compared to the NES Classic, which only came with one. This console fits in the palm of your hand.
Those 21 games that it comes with include titles like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, Super Metroid, Mega Man X, Yoshi’s Island and more. Nintendo is opting to do region-specific releases this time around. This means that the UK and other territories will get the Super Famicon styling. It’s the same console, just with some different visual flair. Collectors will no doubt want to get both if you can find them.
Obviously, this will be an incredibly hot holiday season item, but hopefully it will be easier to find this one compared to last year’s debacle. It was basically impossible to get your hands on an NES Classic even when it launched.
