There is a reason why Netflix is investing so heavily in its own content. No one wants to be at the mercy of other studios who may or may not decide to renew their licensing deals with you. And those deals are expensive. Take “The Office” TV series as an example. It’s a popular show, but is it worth the cost of keeping on the streaming platform?
In a tweet by Netflix, the company has announced that the series will be officially leaving the platform in 2021. It sounds like NBC has decided that they won’t be renewing their licensing deal with Netflix and will be taking back the show where it will be available to stream on its own streaming platform. Plus Netflix has plenty of its own shows. The show will be leaving in January, 2021 so Netflix users still have plenty of time to enjoy the show before it is gone for good. Get streaming folks.
Many shows have left Netflix’s platform, for similar reasons as the company builds its own library of original content. It was previously reported that “Friends” could also be leaving the platform in the future, so that’s something to take note off as well.
