So far, Nintendo has handed out NES games as bonuses with Switch Online subscriptions. But you might be wondering if any SNES games are coming. Well, thanks to some code sleuthing, we might have a hint of what’s to come. Twitter user Kapu claims to have found references to 22 SNES games in Switch Online’s code strings, many of them must-haves for fans. Games like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, and Super Mario All-Stars to name a few Mario titles.
However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. This potential catalog includes games like Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past, F-Zero, Super Metroid and the early Star Fox games (including the previously SNES Classic-only Star Fox 2). There’s also 3 Kirby games, Yoshi’s Island and a handful of third-party releases like Contra 3. All great stuff for sure.
If the list is accurate, we still don’t know when these SNES games would show up. Nintendo isn’t necessarily going to release them soon, and it’s likely to dole them out on a month-by-month basis. We will have to wait and see what happens. We are hoping that this info is accurate. It might be an incentive to stay subscribed beyond Switch Online’s multiplayer features so you don’t miss out.
