So you encounter the most desirable version of a limited edition PlayStation. You want it. No. You need it. Your bid is even going to charity. What could be better? Life is great. Hit that bid button. Money is no object! You just won’t eat this month. But maybe things aren’t as good as they seem once the deal is actually done. The auction for that #00001 anniversary edition PS4 that sold for about $127,000 has fallen through. Maybe we shouldn’t be too surprised. That is a lot of money for a console.
Sony doesn’t say why, but it’s easy to figure out. They probably had buyer’s remorse, or maybe they were not able to pay that high amount for a console. Whatever the reason, the buyer couldn’t hold up their end.
Sony however is keeping its promise and is making the donation that matches the winning bid. Good on you Sony. If you were a bidder who missed out, this means you may have a second chance. Sony isn’t saying what it’s doing with the console, but for now they are putting it on display at the Ginza location. Hopefully they let someone else have a shot at it, which means more charity money as well.
