Last week Telltale Games announced massive layoffs at the studio, indicating that the company was in the process of shutting down. However, according to the statement, there would be some staff remaining to help fulfill the company’s obligations to its board and partners. So we thought that ongoing projects could still be wrapped up, including the final season of The Walking Dead game. Sadly, that might not be the case.
According to a tweet by Melissa Hutchison who does the voice acting for Clementine in the game, Telltale is expected to go ahead and release Episode 2 of the final season but will stop after that. This is not the first time we have heard that rumor. Previously US Gamer had also heard from a source that Episode 2 will be the final release and that would be it for the game.
It is a shame considering that many people really liked this game and these people will be left hanging. It’s like when a TV show gets canceled before the story plays out fully.
Telltale did say that they will be making more comments about its product portfolio in the coming weeks, so hopefully, we will learn more about The Walking Dead’s final season.
