Telefónica Digital has unveiled a new concept they have created called ‘Thinking Things’ which has been developed to provide a simpler way to connect everyday ‘things’ to the Internet.
Over the past 12 months we have featured a number of different devices and projects on Geeky Gadgets which have been designed to connect monitoring modules via the Internet, which have normally taken the form of Kickstarter projects.
However the new simple solution currently under development by, has been developed to connect almost any device wirelessly to the Internet. Allowing for physical objects to be controlled online. Using plastic ‘bricks’ that connect to the web, linking the physical and Internet worlds together. Watch the video below to learn more about the Thinking Things project and see it in action.
“Invented by Telefónica I+D, the research and development division of Telefónica, the product will provide a significant boost to the development of machine-to-machine (M2M) communications and help the establishment of an internet of physical things. With Thinking Things, tasks such as controlling thermostats, monitoring assets or tracking loads with a mobile phone can now become an affordable reality.”
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always. For more information jump over to the Telefónica Digital website for the press release.
