Bandai Namco recently announced a new Taiko Drum Master game, and for a while fans in western markets were disappointed to learn that the game would only be released in Japan. But then last week Bandai Namco announced that the game would be released in the west for both the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
This would be Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum Session (for PS4) and Drum ‘n’ Fun (for Switch). But the sad news is that if you were hoping that the Taiko Drum Controller would also be coming to the US or Europe, that is not the case. Bandai Namco will not be releasing them in the west, at least not right now.
The company has confirmed that they do not have plans to bring the controllers to the west and this naturally makes gamers sad. We can always hope that they change their minds in the future. If you want to get your hands on the controller, you’ll need to import it yourself. At least for now.
At least Switch gamers can use their Joy-Cons to play on air/imaginary drums, but PS4 gamers will just have to rely on their DualShock 4 controllers. Both Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum Session and Drum ‘n’ Fun will release on the 2nd of November, 2018.
