When Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus were announced with prices cheaper than what Netflix is offering, many thought that Netflix could be in trouble. However, it turns out that maybe Netflix might not have to be worried, at least according to a recent survey.
Research conducted by Piper Jaffray suggests that around 75% of Netflix customers surveyed said that they will not be abandoning Netflix for either Disney or Apple. According to analyst Michael Olson, “Our survey suggests that the majority (~75%) of subscribers do not intend to subscribe to either Disney+ or Apple TV+. For those that do expect to use one of these offerings, the vast majority expect to also maintain their Netflix subscription.”
It should be noted that this is a relatively small survey and they only polled about 1,500 Netflix subscribers in all. It is possible that with the launch of Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus, things could change, but for now, Netflix looks like it is safe. These results are not surprising though.
After all, Apple and Disney have yet to prove themselves in terms of content. We will have to wait and see what happens and how customers respond. The big N will likely be just fine.
