Nintendo’s mobile game,Super Mario Run, was unveiled at the iPhone 7 event earlier this year. The game was finally released a few days ago and it’s exclusive to iOS. For a few months at least.
The game is off to a great start, and players who have been hoping for additional content in the form of a paid or free DLC will be disappointed to learn that the company has confirmed it’s not developing a Super Mario Run DLC. Sorry folks. Just the game and that’s it.
A spokesperson for Nintendo has confirmed that the company is not planning to launch any additional content for Super Mario Run. Most games these days are supplemented with post-launch content, even if some developers don’t charge for it. This will not be one of those games however. Initial download numbers for Super Mario Run have been impressive, but most reviews on the App Store criticize Nintendo’s business model. That is because the game itself can be downloaded for free but players have to pay $10 to access levels beyond the first few. The game is estimated to have made $5 million on its first day.
Nintendo has confirmed that it’s going to release Super Mario Run for Android at some time in 2017. Then Android players can join in as well.
