Last year developer ConcernedApe announced that Stardew Valley would be getting a multiplayer feature, with a beta expected to launch by the end of 2017. It turned out that the beta was then delayed to 2018 but there was no mention of when it would be happening, aside from a rough time frame of Q1.
Well, in an update on the Stardew Valley blog, Eric Barone a.k.a. ConcernedApe has confirmed that the multiplayer beta is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2018. According to Barone, work on the new features is done and the text has been sent off to be translated.
He also claims that once they have received the translated text and integrated it into the game and it has gone through QA, the public beta should be ready. He says that they are shooting for spring of 2018. Delays like this are expected sometimes as unexpected things happen and developers feel like it isn’t quite polished enough yet, but hopefully there won’t be more delays for this.
The multiplayer feature of Stardew Valley will include both local and online play, so you can play online with friends or even locally. At least we have a better time frame now.
