Back in early 2017, Blizzard announced that they were working on a remastered version of StarCraft, where they would upgrade the visuals, along with some other tweaks.
The game was set to launch on the 14th of August and indeed, the game is now live. If you have been waiting for this one, now you can go ahead and play it.
Blizzard says, “Almost 20 years ago, Blizzard Entertainment released a game that would set the standard for the real-time strategy genre, inspire a generation of gamers, and show the world how powerful esports could be. Today, we are honored to bring a classic game loved by so many into the modern era. Today we launch StarCraft: Remastered.”
You can expect an upgrade in graphics, improved audio, stylized briefings, and also tweaks to the UI which will be great. While this is a remaster, Blizzard stated that they had to basically rebuild the game from scratch since there were several assets and files missing. StarCraft Remastered is available at Blizzard’s website for $14.99. Also, if you want to play the original StarCraft and the Brood Wars expansion for free, you can always download the “old” version, although there will be certain features that will be lacking compared to this remastered copy. Happy gaming.
