EA and BioWare’s Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic franchise is one of the more loved Star War video game franchises out there. But if you were hoping to see Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 anytime soon, don’t hold your breath. It might not be coming anytime soon, if at all.
This is according to a tweet by Kotaku’s Jason Schreier where he claims that from what he has heard, EA doesn’t seem very interested in the idea. Apparently BioWare had pitched the idea to EA multiple times over the years, but nothing ever happened. There was some hope when EA had signed a new licensing deal with Disney, and with writer Drew Karpyshyn returning to BioWare, but unfortunately, nothing has come from it yet.
The last time we saw a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game was way back in 2004 with The Sith Lords. EA later launched The Old Republic MMORPG which did not do well which forced the company to switch to a free-to-play model to encourage more players to get on board. We don’t know why EA would not be interested in a new Knights of the Old Republic title, but fans will just have to keep hoping.
