Disney has tied Star Wars into just about everything, so you would think that they had planned for a Star Wars Battlefront DLC that ties in with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The new Star Wars movie has been breaking records, but sadly it won’t have much impact on Star Wars Battlefront.
EA responded to a question on Twitter about this and confirmed that “for this release” of Star Wars Battlefront the team is focusing on the original trilogy, Episodes IV to VI, and not Episode VII. That means no Rey, no Kylo, and no BB-8, among other things.
The Battle of Jakku DLC is as close as it gets to TFA for now. Fans will just have to be happy with what we have right now. The Battle of Jakku is fought in a desert planet from The Force Awakens, however the story is actually an epilogue to Return of the Jedi. You might have noticed that the Stormtroopers there have the same armor as the original trilogy.
EA did mention “this release” so maybe there is hope for an Episode VII focused game sometime soon. Now is just not that time. It will happen eventually if fans are patient.
