Square Enix May Release Final Fantasy XIV For The Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is doing pretty well for itself with hit titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The console has some big games. In fact there are still quite a few big games that have yet to be released.

For fans of Final Fantasy, this may be good news. Square Enix has revealed that they are in discussions with Nintendo and Microsoft about bringing Final Fantasy XIV onto the Switch and the Xbox One.

Just be aware that this could take a while, and might not even go through. According to the game’s director Naoki Yoshida, the developer wants as many players to join Final Fantasy XIV as possible, which is why they are speaking to Nintendo and Microsoft. He adds, “We need to make sure Nintendo and Microsoft understand what we do and have them know about our online and QA regulations. We believe these conversations will take a long time.”

Back in April the company promised that they would be “fully supporting” the console in terms of game releases, so we hope that Final Fantasy XIV will find its way onto the platform in the future. Hopefully sooner than later.
