Despite other music rivals Spotify is still going strong. They sure don’t seem to be losing any customers to those competitors. Founder Daniel Ek has revealed that his streaming music service now has 30 million subscribers. Those are real paying users.
This number is up 10 million compared to June 2015, and 20 million more than in 2014. No, they are not slowing down, in fact they are picking up some speed.
Ek didn’t say how many free users were in the mix, but I think we can safely say that there are more than the 75 million from nearly a year ago. These numbers make you wonder where the company will be a year from now. Can this growth continue? Apple Music took half a year to reach 10 million subscribers. I guess these numbers show that there’s plenty of room to grow in the streaming music market. And also exclusives aren’t really doing much to affect growth. The question is though, how long can this growth continue? I guess we will find out in due time. For right now Spotify is not slowing down at all, despite all of the competition that is out there today. It may be some time before they slow down.
