If you want to watch Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, you might want to stay clear of social media. It looks like full pirated copies of the movie have already made their way online. While the rest of the world will be seeing the movie this week, it was actually released in China last Friday. And apparently, that is how it ended up being leaked online.
Pirated copies of the movie were created by pirates who sat in the movie theater and recorded the movie using a camera. It is an old school technique that still works. And usually video and audio are terrible due to this.
Marvel had also previously experienced this with Avengers: Endgame, when a pirated copy of the movie was leaked online before the rest of the world got to see it. In that case, piracy of the movie didn’t negatively affect the movie’s financial success.
It is estimated that the movie has brought in about $111 million since release in places like China, Japan, and Hong Kong. Combined with the movie’s release in other parts of the world, it should still be a hit. Reviews have been pretty positive. It should be a very cool movie.
