It looks like Viacom has made an agreement for its programming, including BET, Comedy Central, VH1, and Nickelodeon, to appear on a Sony internet television streaming service. Sony’s service is due to launch before the end of 2014 and it would differ from current services by streaming content only from cable or satellite TV providers.
The Wall Street Journal says that the deal is not final yet. Sony has also had similar unfinished deals with Disney, Time Warner, and CBS.
Sources say that Sony is hoping to launch the service on Sony PlayStation products first, along with the Bravia line of HD televisions. Tablets and smartphone service will be added later.
