Has it been a year already? November of 2013 was a month that gamers around the world would not soon forget. That’s when the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One were released. Both consoles went on sale only in select markets at first, then they gradually hit other markets throughout the year.
And now to celebrate its first anniversary Sony has published an infographic that shows how the PS4 has performed in its first year. The infographic shows that Sony has shipped a whopping 13.5 million units of the PlayStation 4 worldwide.
Units shipped are not units sold, but Sony had already confirmed that it has sold 10 million PS4 units to actual flesh and blood customers. It hit this milestone a full three months before Microsoft did with the Xbox One too. Sony’s infographic also shows that over 1 billion hours have been spent playing the PS4 online. Gamers have also pressed the Share button 530 million times. Sony also noted that since the console’s launch, a 270 increase in PlayStation Plus membership has been registered, with the total number of subscribers at 7.8 million. Yeah, these stats are super impressive. We knew Sony was kicking butt, however these numbers certainly bring it all home. Good for you Sony. It is a great console.
