Sony PS3 & PS4 may be getting upgrades

ps4newThe PS4 was released last year in November, so it has been around for more than half a year, and now it looks like Sony is already preparing an upgrade. The PS3 as well.

This info comes from a filing with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, where Sony has filed for two new devices with the model numbers CUH-1106A and the CECH-4306CH. The former is the upgraded version of the PS4, with the current Asian model of the PS4 being the CUH-1006A.

There is some speculation that the difference in the model numbers suggests a slight upgrade, not a drastic overhaul. We don’t know what the changes could be, but they have eliminated the possibility of a hard drive change, since this would involve the changing of the lettering at the end of the model. It may be more energy efficient, maybe quieter. Who knows?

The PS3 change in model numbers suggests that it could be an upgrade of the PS3 super slim model, which makes sense, but again, we have no idea what changes could be made. We don’t know when Sony will announce these new models, but E3 2014 is coming soon.
