Before Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus, Sony had its PlayStation Vue service. The PlayStation Vue is a live TV streaming service that was Sony’s attempt to capture the market that other companies like Hulu have been operating in.
However, the PlayStation Vue service might not be doing as well as Sony had hoped for because, in a recent report, it has been revealed that Sony could actually be looking to sell it off and have approached Bank of America Merrill Lynch to explore the possibility of a sale. One of the companies that could be in discussion with them is fuboTV.
Discussions could be in the very early stages or it could not be going anywhere with nothing concrete being decided yet. PlayStation Vue is home to about 500,000 subscribers, so it is well behind other streaming services. It is no Netflix.
Sling TV and Hulu Live TV both have about 2 million subscribers, while YouTube TV is said to have about 1 million subscribers. Take it with a grain of salt for now as Sony has yet to officially comment on the report. Hopefully, we will hear more very soon and then will be able to confirm or debunk this report.
