Many gamers have had regrets about their choice of username after choosing it. For PlayStation fans, that’s been a problem because your PSN name has always been set in stone. You can’t change it. However, Sony may be becoming more flexible about this.
In an interview at PlayStation Experience, the company’s Shawn Layden said he hoped to have a name change option available by next year’s Experience. That sounds like great news for all of us who want a name change. Layden said the technical solutions were “more complex than you think.” Which explains the hold up.
Layden said in 2014 that Sony they didn’t want trolls to cause problems in one game, change their name and ruin someone else’s play session too. They also have to make sure that all of your friends see the change. Hopefully Sony won’t ask you to pay to change your handle, as Microsoft does on Xbox Live. Sony has been talking about the idea for years,so hopefully it will really happen soon. We will keep our fingers crossed. Many people have user names that they have grown out of, some of them must be pretty embarrassing for gamers who are now adults, but have juvenile names.
