The Thanksgiving holiday is always followed by the Black Friday shopping event, where billions of dollars are spent on discounted products. Black Friday 2016 online sales are estimated to have gone beyond $3 billion dollars with more than $1 billion worth of sales being generated from mobile devices alone. People go crazy on that day.
Gaming consoles are always big during Black Friday too and it looks like Sony has sold more than two million PlayStation 4 units over this Black Friday weekend.
Sony has not yet officially confirmed the numbers but Ubisoft UK event specialist and team leader Sunny Sanghera wrote on Twitter that Sony has sold more than two million PlayStation 4 consoles worldwide this week, also adding that the Watch Dogs 2 price promotion played a key role in this performance. Sony has to be happy with that.
Sony would have sold a lot of PlayStation 4 units this weekend than it normally does because there were some great deals to be had on the PlayStation 4 Slim and the PlayStation 4 Pro in any event. Sony’s console has performed much better than the Xbox One ever since both were released back in 2013. The company recently confirmed that it has sold more than 40 million PlayStation 4 consoles across the world. And more are sold every day.
