Black and white photography isn’t dead yet. It is still popular with photographers, and even though you can attach a black and white filter on your photograph, there is a skill to it that not everyone has that skill. Digital cameras can take black and white photos with a change in settings, of course, but even so, Sony may launch a dedicated black and white full frame camera soon that only takes black and white photos.
According to Sony Alpha Rumors, Sony is working on bringing the device to the market within a year and wants to compete with cameras like the Leica Monochrom which costs $8,000. This camera will use a new black and white sensor developed by Sony which offers greater sharpness, cleaner higher ISO results, and an increased dynamic range, all of which will make your black and white photos better.
This camera is going to appeal to a very select group of photographers. It’s just a rumor for now, but we have no reason to believe that it is not true. When we hear more, we will pass the news on to you. Take it with a grain of salt for the moment.
