Now that the PlayStation 4 has been released, naturally Sony’s focus will shift toward the new console and away from the PS3. And in that regard, online support for a handful of Sony’s first-party PS3 games are expected to be coming to an end in the first half of 2014.
If you are among those who are still regularly playing their PS3 games, Sony’s website will provide you with additional details regarding the upcoming end of support, so make sure that you hit their website for more info. Some of the games involved in this shutdown process includes Sony’s Resistance series, like Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3. All will no longer be playable online as of March 28 2014.
Gran Turismo 5 will have its online features disabled in May 2014. Anyway, Gran Turismo 6 was announced not too long ago so you will be playing that soon anyway. These games will still be playable offline, except for games like MAG and SOCOM: Confrontation, which do not offer offline support. Sadly, this day had to come. It happens when new consoles arrive. It’s all part of the gamer’s life. Try not to be too sad about it.
