We have already seen some leaked details of the new Sony Cyber-shot RX100, and now Sony has made the device official, and we have all the details on Sony’s latest camera.
The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 comes with a 20.2 megapixel back illuminated Exmor R 1.0 type CMOS sensor, and a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens.
The new Cyber-shot™ RX100 II from Sony puts even more shooting power in your pocket. Sleekly styled in strong, light aluminium, it’s a perfect travel partner for quality-conscious photographers who want DSLR-style images from a pocket camera with generous control options.
Enhanced Low-Light Performance
Building on the superb picture quality of the multi-award winning RX100, the new camera now delivers even better results if you’re shooting indoors or at dusk without a flash. The newly developed back-illuminated Exmor R™ 1.0-type CMOS sensor increases sensitivity while reducing picture noise in tricky low-light scenes. Combined with the exceptional f1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens, you’ll see the difference with exceptionally crisp, natural stills and Full HD video in any shooting situation – from parties to night-time landscapes.
The back-illuminated sensor is a significant upgrade, allowing photographers to capture more detail and clarity in low-light conditions. This is particularly beneficial for those who enjoy night photography or indoor shooting without the harshness of a flash. The f1.8 aperture of the Carl Zeiss lens also contributes to this enhanced performance, providing a shallow depth of field that is perfect for portrait shots with beautifully blurred backgrounds.
Advanced Features and Connectivity
Other specifications on the RX100 include a 7.5cm LCD tiltable display, WiFi and NFC. The tiltable LCD display is particularly useful for capturing shots from various angles, whether you’re shooting from a low perspective or taking a selfie. The high-resolution screen ensures that you can review your photos and videos with great clarity.
The inclusion of WiFi and NFC makes it easier than ever to share your photos and videos. With WiFi, you can quickly transfer your images to your smartphone or tablet, making it simple to upload them to social media or send them to friends and family. NFC (Near Field Communication) allows for quick pairing with compatible devices, streamlining the process of connecting your camera to other gadgets.
Additionally, the RX100 supports Full HD video recording, making it a versatile tool for both photographers and videographers. The camera’s advanced image stabilization technology ensures that your videos are smooth and free from the shakes that can occur when shooting handheld.
For those who are serious about their photography, the RX100 offers a range of manual controls, allowing you to fine-tune your settings to get the perfect shot. The camera also features a variety of shooting modes, including panorama and burst mode, giving you the flexibility to capture a wide range of scenes and subjects.
The Sony Cyber-shot RX100 will launch in Europe in the middle of July, it will retail for $750. This price point positions it as a premium compact camera, but given its advanced features and exceptional image quality, it offers good value for money for those who are serious about their photography.
