Sony has relaunched the Aibo brand in Japan last year with a new robot dog. And now the company has confirmed that it’s bringing this robot dog to the United States. It has also confirmed how much the robot will cost in the states. The new Aibo toy will be available for purchase beginning next month.
This robotic pooch will come bundled with three years of Sony’s AI Cloud service in addition to many toys. That sounds great.
Sony has confirmed that this Aibo robot dog will cost you $2,899 in the US. The robot will ship with several extra toys which include paw pads, an Aibone, a pink ball and a charging station. The robot dog will be able to send its daily activities to Sony’s services through the AI Cloud and this will help the robot improve its personality over time.
That’s also what allows you to control Aibo over Wi-Fi or LTE through AT&T. The robot is interactive, with many sensors, actuators, and cameras. It can navigate to its charging pad using the rear camera and facial recognition enables it to identify family members. It promises to be the smartest Aibo yet.
It can respond to voice commands and perform a variety of tricks through the companion app for smartphones. This will be a limited edition.
