When I was a kid, the playground was a place to use your imagination. All of the games that you played there were games that involved your mind and the playground equipment. Nothing more. Well, it looks like playgrounds in Europe are about to get a dose of interactivity.
The Son-X Octavia is a solar-powered “interactive sound device”, now shipping to schools in Europe. The round device straps onto a conventional swing set and will allow kids to activate three aural games, each designed to “awaken the natural curiosity in children to explore the possibilities through activity.”
It can be upgraded over time, with new titles on USB drives. It will cost €499 ($624), but it isn’t for consumers just yet. What happened to good old fashioned playground fun?
